I grew up immersed in car culture. As far back as I can remember, everyone around me drove something interesting. My mom always drove big Chevy V8s. Our family friends had MGB GTs, Triumph TR3/4s and raced midgets and winged sprints. Even when I baby sat for family friends (which was rare), the dad picked me up in his SD455 Pontiac Firebird. All of these experiences left a permanent mark on me. In my teen years, all I wanted to do was draw, design and build cars. I spent far too many hours in friends’ garages and race shops learning how race cars went together and what made speed. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up so I took my design ideas to my drawing board where I explored designs that incorporated these ideas into beautiful, functional forms. Though my career took me in different directions, I never lost my passion for the automobile. The people, the beauty, the artistry and the speed continue to capture my imagination and, in recent years, my camera lens.
